Get my name out of Google!
A former user of one of my sites requested I remove her record. Afterwards, the user wrote, again, stating her info still shows up in Google results. This is a common issue.
I replied . . .
“The search engines (Yahoo, Google, Bing, etc.) crawl through sites and store what they see. As people search for the info, the info is stored in a temp memory, also known as a cache. When the search engines search through, again, their records will change, but the cache can remain for some time.
You have to wait till the next time the crawler goes through the site
wait till the cache clears (unknown amount of time)
The other way is to contact the search engine companies requesting the removal or updating of their records. It is up to the individual search engine’s policy how they would deal with your type of request. And, that’s only for the info you put on their site. If you did not put the info there, they won’t do anything…like, you don’t own that info, sort of.
The way I see it, you are doing the very first thing, requesting removal from the sites that are crawled. Now, it’s just a matter of time before your disappears from search results.
Patience.”
