Even gambling casinos gave occasional server problems!

Posted in What? on August 18th, 2009

At Chukchansi Casino, their servers go down just I have witnessed by the display of ‘standby’ in the little LED displays. (I did check to verify this!)

[TIP]. Check posterous.com on how you can…

Posted in What? on August 17th, 2009

[techie consultant mode=on; hmm, very dusty!] In addition to posting short blurbs full of acronyms and sometimes abbreviations leaving readers to re-read your tweet several times, you can 1) summarize, 2) link to the full text, and 3) include photos, audio, word docs, etc…at http://posterous.com.

If you are reading this far, you are on Posterous.com’s site where two guys, on separate coasts, have put together this cool service which works for me, personally, and my work’s (City of Cupertino) workflow.  The key is to SUMMARIZE in the Subject line and in the body of the email, expand to your heart’s content.

If you go to http://twitter.com/cityofcupertino or to the city’s FB account, you’ll see how we use it…unfortunately, FB doesn’t allow director posting via their API on ‘organization/business’ accounts, but they do for personal accounts (what a bugger!  I almost had a workflow of ‘email once, post three times!!!)

If I created an iPhone/Android app for a city, what do you want in it?

Posted in What? on August 5th, 2009

Okay, I’m researching the usefulness of a smartphone (iPhone, Android, etc.) application (web or app, either) for a local city.  What city service or information would you repeatedly use.

I’ll start with:  Parks & Recreation classes
