You love Youtube (YT), but you don’t want YouTube (Google) to get all the money! For under one cup of Peet’s, Starbuck’s or Coffee Society’s specialty cup of your blend of java each month, you can pay for your own multimedia site! Yes!
The real impact is:
- create and register a catchy domain name
- use one of the recommended domain hosts (check each free YT-clone site recommendations…less than $5/mo!)
- Customize the PHP/MySQL script either by the limited themes, find others or create one.
- Join an banner advertising program like Google’s AdSense.
After that, you are set…well, almost. Now, get the word out. This is where I am weak, so the advice, here, that I can provide is GET OFF YOUR BUTT AND LET EVERYONE KNOW. Blog, use your e-mail signature (don’t use your work’s email signature!), participate in related forums (and any other forums) and add a blurb at the end or put it in your forum account signature. And, repeat when you upload your own or even advertise someone else’s video that you get that you see on YT that you add to your site (on YT, look for that ‘embed’ code and paste it on your YT-clone site!
Email, blog, etc., your TOP 10 YT VIDS for the day, week month!
Yes, it’s easier said than done, but a few minutes per day, and it will add up. Just don’t let up.
