Touch me…you’re dead!

The seriousness of my naivety regarding inanimate objects was brought close to home while working late this evening. A group was having a meeting, and I took a break and walked the first floor. I noticed a backpack shoved up into the lighting cove. I notified the building attendent, who is shorter than I, and told her that I would just get it out of there and put it on the floor against the same wall.

I did it, noticed the loosely coiled cable with a rubber sheath, just like a cheaper bicycle cable for locking up a bike.

When I was leaving, I said good-bye to the building attendent. She said she told the person heading the meeting that it had exposed wires and could have been a bomb, and I could be dead, now.

The meeting was to orient the attendees to suspicious objects which initially appear harmless. The instructor put potential bombs throughout the first floor for the group to find. I saw a few obvious ones and one I might just think was trash on the ground.

Grab it, and BOOM!
